I with you KEL!

I was an abusive alcoholic from age 14 til 30. Started out as something cool to chill out with the boys then I became known as the 40 Master because I would drink 4 to 8 40oz a day and I was shamelessly proud of that title. I use to drink so much I would pass out on the corner and wake up wondering how I got there. Countless times my girl at the time had to take me home because I would be bombed. I drank because I like being the clown, loved the attention, but then people were telling that I drink too much and I would fight verbal or physical with them because it felt they were killing my spotlight. I could've been an MC a long time ago if it wasn't for alcohol, I battled many heads on the street and people thought I was gonna be big time.

After my friend got killed from a gang war, I literally drowned and buried myself in alcohol. You couldn't tell me anything, all I wanted was the bottle. Then one day my father sat me down and told me of this vision of God he had and that the Almighty wants me to stop drinking heavily because there's a beautiful future in store for me. I laughed at my pops and said God doesn't wanna know me. A month later I felt a sharp pain in my back. Went to the doctor and he said my left kidney is infected severly from the years of drinking. I stopped for 6months then hopped on the bottle again. My girl couldn't take my shit anymore so she left me and I was even more torn. I drank a half a jug of raw rum and got in my car for a ride. Bro, I crashed into a lightpost and the car went up in flames, dude from the electric company pulled me out in time before it exploded, amazingly all I had was bruises from the seat belt. When the police took me in I was .17 of alcohol in my blood, they didn't arrest me like they're suppose to, they felt sorry for me and just told me to pay for the lightpost which was $700 and it happened on a rural road. Thats when I stopped cold turkey.

I still had to fight the urges though which was tough. One day I was listening to one of my beat tapes of when I was 16 and my new girl was really into it, she pulled out a ready rolled blunt filled with hydro and told me to puff some. I did and thats when my life changed. I was tripping out to my music and I was so high but it felt like a spiritual journey, because I got these images of me rapping on stage and people just into the music and there were all types of colors flying at me and the music became this living soul merging into mine. I didn't do hydro again after that, but a few weeks later I copped the SP505 and got back on. From all that I forgot about God and became sick with dengue in which I almost died. Thats when I remembered Him and prayed. When I got better I made an album called Ill Green and dedicated it to God. My name at the time was Murky Waters, due to being an alcoholic, but people thought I was Ill Green and so thats my story. Thats the mystery to my sig.

Damn Ill, that's serious ish man, glad your doing well and in a better place now.

I've definitely been leaning towards cutting out drinks completely. Something about waking up with broken blood vessels on your face, puke on your jeans, and a bruised eye just isn't as romantic as it used to be. I definitely hear you Ill on why you liked drinking, I've always been the quiet kid outside of alcohol, and it's been a way to overcome that in a lot of situations. Which was good when I was younger, but it doesn't feel like a healthy relationship to have with the substance.

Felt good reading through this thread this morning, Thanks guys.
Peace.

My brother in law is an assistant coroner and says how visibly damaging alcohol is in autopsy, not only the liver but especially the brain. He says alcohol actually erodes the brain over time and may cause alzhiemers and dementia as well as other mental disorders. I quit a while back and life is a lot better.
