Phew... I was beginning to worry we wouldn't get a battle going!
Some really nice and varied beats here.

You can listen to mine at

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... tent=music

Took bloody ages but I'm pretty pleased with it. Have to admit tho - I used the 555's effect memory with the delay to do some cuts at 3mins30. If anyone's not happy about it then just ignore that bit! :D

(Don't know if it's a well known trick but it's useful for adding variations - experiment with different delay note settings then rhythmically cut between fully wet and dry so you throw the beat about. Nice!)

Wow! Holmes killed it again! Pure pro soundig niceness again. I guess the easy pattern copying of the 555 makes it a bit easier to make "full" songs. But anyways, it was skill and not gear talking there...

Many other good tracks there as well, maybe I'll comment when it's voting time.

Also have to say big thanks for the positive comments on my tune. I'll try to get my music page in order soon. And maybe I'll post some edit/mix of that original recording mostblunted asked for.

Just out of interest, is it really difficult to copy patterns on the 404? ...didn't realise that.

Suppose that did give me a little bit of an advantage... Was lots of hard work too tho! :)

The pattern copying is explained in this vid:

I think it's easier to do it with a computer & card reader by copying and renaming the pattern files.

do you have to 'backup' the pattern to be able to do this?
sounds like a really nice workaround

Well no, not a backup on sp-404. Just put the card to your pc reader and copy the pattern file to your computer, rename it and copy back to the card and you're done.

Here's a link for detailed instructions. But yeah, I think this method beats the other one hands down, but ofcoz not everyone owns a computer.

i think copying of pattern on the 404 is only hard at first. i don't like changing cards out unless really needed.

aside: i really should have recorded at a higher level.

Awesome beats again people. :)

Lol, we need a sign that reads "beware of Holmes", because he's obviously rockin' the electro genre!!

Now that I'm a mod I'm thinking of banning that style of music in battle. No electro for the sample and a sample is not allowed to be flipped into electro :P

'Beware of Holmes'... haha, I think I might get that made into a t-shirt!

Glad people are likin the beats. To be honest, I was trying to write a hip-hop tune! ...just been spending too much time listening to the new Prefuse album I guess.

Really...???? I've got a classic 80s Italidisco track lined up as a potential next sample... (juxt - you should love it! :) )

But I've got a couple of gigs coming up with my band so won't be able to participate - Gonna be using my 555 to trigger synth bass samples - will probably look like a dick using the d-beam, but fuck it - I'll be having fun!!!
