We have some beat battle thing here too and I never considered entering because I don't feel like anyone who goes to that would be feeling my music. They seem to be into that Gucci Mane and Katy Perry ish too. I have a family friend who has been before and lasted and his music is sooooo not like mine lol.

Honestly, when it comes to beat battles, its all a mater of what you expect to get out of it. If you're in it for an opportunity to push yourself to make something and step up your game, then right on- its a good choice. No matter the result, you'll win.

However, if you're looking to build a fan base or achieve notoriety, battles aren't really where its at (IMO.) When you figure that the main people that are checking out the battle are those involved, more often than not these people are far more interested in being heard than hearing other people's work. This is especially true when its a more heated competition. Here at the forums, its a bit differently because you have more of a relationship with other members, but still, above all producers want to be heard. Not only that, these people are most likely to be less than objective when giving feedback; with all due respect, they have a stake in keeping you from getting better or too much attention.

On a side note, its a shame that so many people are convinced that they hate house music because of people like Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, etc. because its not real house music. Man...good house is compelling, interesting, and just makes you want to hear more. Check out Ian Pooley and Tim Deluxe for some more really good house music.

def feel you on that recognition tip. those battles have a formula and its whose the loudest most dramatic of the group not realy about a joint that can be rapped to but really about the moment.

and i have nothing against house music... i used to listen to it on the weekends when djs would play long sessions @ night on the radio, i look at it like there's a surface level to everything and youll never hear hardcore house music being played by katey perry because she wouldnt be able to sing to it. just like hip hop... give anyone of these wack ass new age rappers a lo fi track where they dont have room to say "hey hey hey" and theyll just stand there dumbfounded.

like i mentioned earlier the judges said they dug my hip hop joints but the dance joints got them to dance so i lost to that...
