shoebox stuffed like a puzzle with the SP and all the wires and cards, but i don't just kick around with it and am always extra careful and aware of it, heat and rough shaking could be the death of this machine..............i remember that looking for small gun cases with foam inlays were good for holding SP's, just check the measurements of the one you are buying, they have them right on amazon among other places i'm sure

yeah you should be able to get a plastic case that comes filled with foam, you cut out the foam in the shape you want it. (make it tight so it squeezes around the 404 a bit rather than perfectly cutting a hole the size of the 404)

In australia they sell such things at a shop called jaycar which sells supplies for electronics projects/etc, from electrical components, to kits, to casing/etc... so if you have a place like that, might be worth a look.. otherwise.. ebay!
Samples.

Wonder if this would work ($29.99 for the double size). The dimensions are 11"x9"x6".
