can you use the 404 as a controller??

i don't anything about MIDI but i have an Alesis Mircon and was wondering can i use the 404 to controller it??

if not, what the hell do i do???

oh yeah and can you control the volume of the samples you have in the 404?? like if i have a drum sound and i want to turn it down a bit, is that possible in the 404??

you can't control things because the 404 has no MIDI Out

but you can change the different levels of sounds within the machine

You need an 808, 606 or 555 if you want to do that.

nah i think i'll buy the 404. just directly sample the micron into it and then after a while cop and MPC 1000. hook up the micron and the 404 to the 1000 and i should be well on my way to international stardom.

if you can alter the volume on sounds then that's cool. that's all i need for the time being.

a cool thing to do is to sample yourself playing stuff and then chop it up as if you sampled it off a record. that can yield some pretty fresh results.

Or you could make a 16 bar loop with bass changes and a little drum variation, then put the audio out of you micron into the sp and use the ext. source button to play along to the beat while you record into a track on your computer or multi-track then just find the portion of your jam you like and chop that down to a couple minutes and render an mp3 file.

I've been doing that since the year dot - best way to avoid the 'rigid timing' of midi sequencing imo
