is it possible to record a sample while i can still hear the pattern ive already recorded, playing??

ANDD

sometimes when im recording a pattern and i press a sample pad that is longer, it like stops randomly while i still have my finger on the pad... wtf. and even if i put it on "gate" so that it plays all by itself without me having to keep my finger on it, it still stops playing sometimes ... just randomly. is my shit all messed up?

AANNND!!!!

not possible, but work arounds are usable, maybe record out to something and listen to your pattern on that while recording in what you want, need two headphones though.....earbuds inside overears??

i think the second problem for you is that you already had sequenced that pad in the pattern before, and even though you deleted it, it is holding your gate points and not letting you over write that, so say you had a gated sample and you recorded it while holding it then letting off, then you go back and you place that gated sample again after the one you already have recorded but before it cuts out, and then try to hold the sample down longer, its gonna cut off where the other one cut off, so you might need to delete all instances of that pad within the sequence and lay it down all over again keeping this in mind.....

to mute a pad during playback, use the start/end/level button and turn it all the way down, or you can use a few different mfx as mute buttons, including the isolator with everything turned down and the subsonic with the balance all the way towards the subsonic pitch and the subsonic note level all the way down....just play with the knobs and you'll figure it out, so you can put that across whats pads you want to mute and then turn the mfx on and off for your muting needs, especially helpful to use the tap tempo button as the mfx grab for this i think, you just hold tap tempo and hit the mfx you want and it only triggers it while you hold it down, and there isn't any audio drop out like other times when you use mfx.........

hopefully this helps, enjoy!

thanks so much man

so for the second inquiry:
i have in fact erased everything that was recorded on that pad in the pattern. but it still was doing it sometimes. forgive me if im wrong but during pattern select>record> then i press delete and hold the pad for the entire length of the pattern? is there a more complete/ fail-safe way of accomplishing this? should i resample? or just deal wth it a blaze another joint? hahaa thanks again cutty

Sounds like you could be running out of Poly if it keeps doing it. As far as I know all the pattern data should be deleted by the process you described. If you are using a mix of stereo/mono samples it could just be that it takes the right combination to max out and have it cancel a pad.

you'll have to switch out of pattern select mode and go to the bank where the pads/samples are. They will light up as they are triggered in the sequence. 1 for mono 2 for stereo... you gotta count manually. When the poly gets near the max it can do some weird stuff when stereo samples are triggered.

- 12poly max
