i guess this is pretty self explanatory. what is either your favorite or most useful aspect of the 202?

I used it for applying low pass filter and for recording in standard quality ( which is acutally dope sounding lo-fi :) )

and yeah, the pitch effect was actually really good on 202

Everything is raw on the 202. Pitch and filter 1 are the tops, but I actually use the time stretch and delay to mangle too. The other cool thing is the pads remember what effects are applied (not counting pitch since it's global).

yeah, thats what struck me when I started playing with 202.

its so unbelievable that all the newcoming SPs have gained some new options and simultaneously lost others ( like this auto fx apply )... roland just dont get the meaning of the word "upgrade"...

yeah, I don't know what they're thinking... with each progression is a major throwback, they always manage to kill at least one feature I think is hella useful. Why can't it just be done in one simple machine... it's not like we're asking for anything complex... just improve on what they've already got. UPGRADE...lol.

yeah, i guess the gritty sound of the 202 alone is one of the greatest things about it. the filters slowly got worse (at least up to the 404) as they "upgraded". the ring mod on the 202 is pretty intense, almost to the point of being annoying, but i like how shitty sounding it is.

202 is also sick bc you can delete samples off of pads whilst still listening to the external source! ill to freestyle beats on while using the mark button to loop samples.

What I like it taking a nice breakbeat loop, and then setting the delay to the center point and wiggling it slightly to create a sort of Questlove-ish approach to a drum-n-bass pattern.

Also, using the ring modulator live to create a sort of guitar solo effect by continually mashing the start point of the sample while making little modulations to the pitch.

Lastly, I adore the realtime reverse and mark-point manual stutter that it permits in mid-sample, as opposed to the method on the new units where they force you to go to the beginning and end of the sample. I definately agree that Roland keep leaving things out and creating awkward work arounds on the new data formats. Oh well...

honestly i think a big bit of it has to do with ignoring user feedback...and people being dumb enough to but iterations of products that aren't 100% what we want. C'mon...there has to be a way to even do simple pitch control on sp's (classic sampler style)
