hey, i wonder if it would be cool to have a live microwave battle, like we set a specific date and time in the future (might be difficult since we live all over the world) and the samples drop right at that moment. then we all have a half-hour to an hour to make the beat and post it. would that be cool?

I think it's the ultimate form of beat battle. I'd definitely want to test myself.

its actually pretty much sure that such battle gonna take place, as its not time-consuming at all.

time differences will be an issue no doubt, but we'll see how many ppl ( and where from ) want to join

I've attended and hosted a few so-called OHCs (one hour compos) via IRC chat in the past, they work exactly that way. The compo host provides a link to a samplepack just as the compo starts. After an hour all entries have to be uploaded, then it's voting time.

Stuff like that really only works in a realtime chat. Reliable, fast, stable chat like IRC. I'd be happy to host a battle like this some time, if people are up to it.

The way I was thinking the 1 vs 1 would work is that everybody is put into a list by alphabetical order (starting with numbers than A-Z). From that list everybody is paired up for the first round. The person who has the top spot in the battle can either pick a sample to battle or pass the selection on to the bottom person. (The top person would be like "hometeam" or the winner of a coin toss and the bottom person is like the visitor). By the second round things should pretty random and by 3rd and 4th we'll start to see who'll be in the championship rounds. Doing it this way keeps thing fair/even and nobody gets singled out.

It would look something like this:

Top person is "home" & bottom person is "visitor".

these sorta battles always confused me wtf just rock up and play mastered studio tracks sure to hype the crowd (but not necessarily a dope beat otherwise)

That looks good. the way I was thinking was kinda like just having people challenge you as they please. Then every person having their own record kinda like boxing, example Jon do 3-1-0

i like the idea of challenging other people, but that tournament style looks good also.
how does this sound. throw a tournament style battle every so often, like every month, or every other month, or year or whatever. and in between time it can be like the regular season with people challenging each other.
just a thought???
