How do you think these two would work together?

It would be nice to have some solid velocity sensitive pads to bang on.

i was triggering the 404 pads from my mpc 1000 and felt great. something about hitting the mpc pads is just so satisfying! the 404 responeded to velocity changes but i didnt get to try if the sequencer on the 404 would record different velocities though. that would be stupid fresh

I know that the 2kxl and the 404 don't work well together like that cause the 2kxl pads can't get a big enough range of note numbers assigned, to sequence all samples in the 404 :-(

Good luck finding an MPD 24! I have had mine on order for about a month or so and I still dont know when mine will be shipped. The MPD 24 is probably the hottest controller out right now. Also, I have been controlling the 404 from my 2500 and velocity works great!

I'm thinking of buying new pads too, but I don't know if it's going to be Korg Padkontrol or Akai MPD24.

I just bought an MPD16 I didn't think I needed the extra features of the MPD24, plus I saved a bit of money. I have no idea how to accurately set the midi channels for the sp 404 with it. The instruction manual doesn't seem to make any sense.lol. Has anyone got any tips?

Thanks for that M.O.C! Much appreciated mahn!

I understand the diagram on the back and can assign certain pads to the MPD, but I can't set banks D/H for some reason...I think it's to do w/ the 404

The MPD16 has only 2 switchable banks which lets you assing 32 midi notes in total (banks A-C), the sp-404 on the other hand responds to 120 midi notes in total (see manual). The problem lies with the MPD16 not the SP-404.
