So today kicks off the NAMM expo. So far from what I've seen it's been a lot of ableton controllers and other USB computer add on stuff. Personally, I'm kinda sick of hearing about it, and this is only the start.

The only thing to catch my eye so far is the Kaossilator Pro. It's basically a Kaossilator and KP3 combined. Yes, it samples too!!

Have you guys spotted any other cool gear?

Yeah Korg even got a multi-tracker with UNLIMITED tracks to record to, amazing. So far, I've heard Roland unveiled a few synths and keyboards, a new series of keyboards called the HP, in which they claim is "SuperNatural" in the sound department. Even unveiled the new SP-D drumpad.

Gotta wait till Saturday or Sunday for when they unleash the big guns, I can't wait :P

My fav's so far:

KORG Sound On Sound - Unlimited Track Recorder
Image portable multitracker/ endless overdubs / each track gets saved and can be exported, looper, touchscreen, condesator mic . . .

and a mid-priced loopstation with midi (finally).
Looperlative LP-2 Mini Looper
Image Raw state. Can't wait until I see it in work!

I'm really curious what's this serato-ableton 'the bridge' thing is about...

The new Mopho looks great, I just hope it's affordable.

I read that it won't be out until late this year or early 2011. The price is gonna be around $700 :?

The problem with OP-1 for me.. is it has a really good spec list/feature list... BUT.. it just looks too much like a toy or something! So I don't know what to make of it.. is it just a cute little jamming thing, or is it a serious tool? also lack of midi is a pain.

yeah, I kinda agree. thing seems like it's in a bit of a grey area. It does seem like it has a really powerful and flexible synth engine and I still don't know how in depth the sampling engine is. the tape recorder thing looks pretty dope though...
I also feel you on the midi thing, I guess it will have USB MIDI, but i really wish it had like a little breakout cable with MIDI I/O. If it had that then this thing would be perfect with my machinedrum.

Seems like it's more a of laptop/computer thing. you can mount it as a hard drive and drag and drop the tape loops that you made. so you could carry it around with you sample some stuff process it, program some synth stuff make some crazy "tape" loops then drop them onto your laptop into live or whatever and start using the OP-1 as a micro USB MIDI controller.

now whether that's worth $700 to you is another story, but I was actually thinking that it was going to be more than that based on the specs and what I'm assuming will be small production runs.

but yeah, long story short with this and a 13"MBP(or any other small powerful laptop) in your backpack I'd think that you could do some gnarly ish...

time will tell...

Dave smith disappoints with the mopho keyboard wanted a tetra keyboard, I already have lil phatty so dont need that. Serato-Live thing disappoints, wanted to scratch clips in ableton not trigger clips in serato(dumb). Kaossilator Pro looks pretty cool. OP-1 looks amazing, too bad it wont be out for a while. Where's the samplers and drum machines at?

I have pretty much the same attitude as you. It seems like these companies are just forcing new products on us without listening to the users. Why do they intentionally fuck up products for the sake of marketing and hype? I'm sure there are plenty of people out there like me, with money in hand, waiting for something new/fun/innovative to be released without having to jump thru all the corporate BS. Oh well..... the 2nd hand/used market is good enough for me.
