Hi folks :D

I wonder if anyone have tried to format and use a bigger than 512Mb Compact flash (CF) card ina SP 606 e.g a 1 or 2 Gb CF card.....??? As it is harder in Sweden to get hold of a bunch of 512Mb CF cards..so i got the idea to try to format a 1Gb card in my SP-606 and see if it works though it dont use whole space on the card it maybe could create a 512Mb space on the card... :?

Would be happy if one have experiences or a clue if it works :D

nah it wont work... even if u contacted roland for a tip (which i tried) they'll respond with dry anger stating that "512 is all it will take..." so search harder if u can, do back ups and enjoy one of the most underrated samplers...

Thankz a lot my man Niq names fo da comment :D

I fully agree with ya' the Roland maindealers are a grumpy ones..though that we consumerrs spend our hard earned dieros on the gear from them...huuh..

Ok my friend i looked into your Myspace and woooahh what nice beats and rimes you got there..da*n guuud..I rock the SP-606 ive have had them all SP-505, SP-555 and even a MV-8800... Stil there is something with that SP.606 that stands out...it is like the feelin i get on the oldschool EMU SP1200...I state that if Roland could get an update on the SP-606 eg (SP-606II) they would make it possible to pitch samples..maybe raise the polyphony to say at least 24 or up to 32 voices....and at last make it possible to adjust the amount of mix in the FX on the samples induvidually i dream on on that matter. :D I vill do a try n error and go to my studio and try to format a 1GB card in my SP-606 and vill get back on what happend :D

Ok wish ya a pleasant weekend
Yours sincerely

thanks man, ive gotta update that page tho, lol... a new 606 is but a dream... honestly if more artist used them then we would see a new version... but being that it isnt as popular as the 404 it kinda went no where... but i totally agree with the list of improvements u mentioned... although it may raise the cost it would be truly be like the MV8800's lil bro...

Waz good Niq name :)

Yes we could dream on about a MV-little brotha (MV6600) LOL  I i told u ive bought a brand new MV8800 with all the bits, but it had too many gadgets and tend to be too complex for my flava. Ok ive have own my studio since -94 and have worked in both musicshop as salesman and worked professionaly so i have all the knowledge and experience about gear but ive have felt that to a sertain degree it is good having quite advanced tools in the studio..but these days the workstations have too much facilites...if they made hiphop with SP-12's, SP-1200, and MPC-60's in the 80's...we don't need all the extras in todays workstations..too many gadgets take away the focus on the creative side...one end up tweaking knobs and sliders instead make a beat  How many times have i see people say like " Da*n i need to get get hold of a MPC again or SP-1200" :)

Therefore i am instantly in luv with my SP-606 and never let it go away :) ...Ive have looked on a MPC-5000...but i am afraid that it has to much gadgets too like the MV8800, maybe i buy a MPC-500 or MPC-2500 soon....... :)

Ive inserted the 1 Gb CF card into the SP's slot and try to format it......F**k it said "Can't read the card"...so..i vill go all over the internet and serch for a bunch of 512Mb cards :D and then of course one can do backups... :)

Ok Bro' hear again
Yours
