they seem like more trouble than they are worth. I tried one that was hooked up to a computer, I got lost scrolling thru menus and was not able to get a sound to come out of it. i eventually gave up.

well...i have a mv8000 since roland us sold in your shops, and im so happy with this machine!!!, because i use it like a daw...is my master, have 2 midi outs (in one i put my v-synth xt midi in, in the other my mc-909 midi in).
in the IN and OUT (audio): (TAPE OUT and TAPE IN of my xenyx 1204fx).
sp-404, mc-909, vsynth-xt and numark pt-01 (audio outputs): in xenyx 1204fx (inputs) too....
then: all the machines i can recording/sampling into my mv-8000 in a audio track (8 for song) or can sampling into a pad or sampling and choping into a patch (midi track)...then: make a songs and patterns, mastering are great!

btw....in other out of xenyx (call it 3-4) connect to my sp-404 line in.....
then: i can sampling all my machines into my sp-404. is great this 4 me too. :P

i dont use my pc or laptop anymore as a daw...y use only for usb connection..(backups, input wavs...)

the cdr of mv-8000 i use for make audio cds ...but can use for backups too, i prefer usb way.

in the live....is great too...i use (like a sp-404) play pads and fx, but in some performance i use in song mode....(only in fashion show) look my video (preview tropico) at www.youtube.com/vivipedraglio

im sorry 4 my english...
mv-8000 is great!

big kiss 4 you iG9! and my others sp-friends too! :)

i watched an interview with rza about the 8800
plus saw a demo of the 8000

i think these machines look nice as fuck. they are well beyond my needs though, i'm enjoying learning and integrating my gear as it is without changing focus to a MV.

what i like most about these is the internal DAW. it's great in that although it is still a computer, it's a dedicated computer for the hardware it sits in. definitely good to avoid the desktop monitor, having a handy little screen within the box. i think you can even load .dll VSTs from your PC into the DAW?

i definitely like the idea of what Vivi is doing with it, making it the central brain of the whole setup. it is definitely high-tech enough to take over all the tasks you might've needed a PC for.

does it have a connector for a mouse, and video/monitor out?

Yeah, the 8000 supports a monitor / mouse with an expansion card and i think the 8800 supports them out the box. I don't know about the VST support, but that would be phat.

i think the mv is about as much computer as i'd want to use, maybe more. i'm not sure i'm ready for that level of complexity at this point, i'm afraid it would distract me from learning my other gear. still, i'm sure it's a nice powerful machine, and i have nothing but respect for the RZA, so...

you know, speaking of buying gear because someone famous uses it (sp-303, MV-8800) i know a lot of people say it doesn't matter what you use, but that's only true to a point. i played sax in actual bands for years and pretty much all the sax players wanted a selmer mark vi; it was universally recognized as the best sounding horn. i agree that many cats have the tendency to put too much importance of having the biggest and best, but there's a point where having the right gear is important. otherwise we'd all be using fruity loops. =)

in the mv-8000...i need to by: the VGA expansion and the mouse. NEAR U$D 250 today, when i buy it u$d 350 in us...but its necesary!! i have a monitor LCD Sonny 19", is a pleasure working it.
the last upgrade is 3.52, is my configuration.

the mv-8800 have this MV8-VGA, VGA monitor support and mouse operation, integrated.

btw....mike acosta used my voices of my song "Soy del sur" (track in my myspace player) in the NAMM07 for the new mv-8800!, the video are in rolandus and my youtube channel too...

in my mv-8000: i have a 512mb de ram (original 128mb), 80gb (the original is 40gb), MV8-VGA and monitor and mouse (not come in mv-8000).

guys...remember the machines or pc or macs MUST BE A TOOLS....
i prefer mv-8000 and i prefer Roland-machines, is ok if you dont....the important thing is the music and be happy with the machines! :)

luv, vivi.
