anyone know a pc really well?

Post by Riup »

I'm having major pc issues...

I went and bought a cd/dvd brner and a new hard drive. I hooked up the burner and turned everything on to make sure the burner worked. Then I attempted to install this new harddrive. It would be the second harddrive in my system and I wanted it set as the slave...but in the process of trying to get that to work I completly screwed everything up. I hooked everything back like how it used to be and now it says "boot failure reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device press any key when ready" I can't figure this shit out...I have the worst luck today =(

There are different specs for different internal drives. Usually it is ATA "something". I would peek on the existing hard drive that world properly and see which ATA it is & make you you are installing the right type with the same ATA.
Then there are also issues with the jumpers- those little plastic pieces- it usually says in the documentation of the drive how to set them.

yeah you gotta set the actual physical jumpers for master/slave business man, not just BIOS
Samples.
