Sorry, I remember someone here mentioning they were interested in maybe gettin a yamaha AN200 so I thought I'd post this up.

The sp-404 is only a coupla months old and hardly used it tbh also comes with 6 rechargeable batteries and a charger
. . .youll see my posts around that i didnt get along with it so much .. I've decided to buy another synth instead since me and samplers just arent working.

nah thats cool haha. . its not so much getting used to the equipment as it is I just prefer synthesising sounds rather than sampling them ..

was worth a shot though

I guess it takes a different mindset for each - one is like sculpting with something like metal, where you start with nothing and construct from the smallest pieces, and one is like sculpting with stone - where you start with a block and then break it up into different bits, chisselling it away and shaping it from what's already there.

if that makes sense... lol :shock:

Don't get me wrong, I'm from the bay so I like synth beats too, I just find it easier to create an original sounding composition with samples, I started making beats with synth, I guess I just found it to not be challenging after awhile. Good Luck with the sale.

so err i was just removing all my samples and stuff this morning from the 404 im selling . .and I realised I couldnt do it

woo-hoo!

stick it out a while longer man, develop a relationship with the tools and let them translate your vision

just with these 2 boxes alone you have drums and synth sorted. drop your own drum sounds into the 404 and MIDI sequence your percussion that the AN200's synthlines will ride over

Thats it. . I dont know but somewhere in the last day or so the beauty of simplicity kinda hit me .. was watching some videos on youtube and stuff that were inspiring..

Gonna run a dj mixer with sp-404 on one channel and synth->kp3 on the other, see how that goes... still eyeing off a nice little analogue synth like the mono evolver or mfb synth II but for now the AN200 will suffice.

which knobs (apart from Cutoff of course) do you find get tweaked the most on the AN200?

Well I think its kind of more about finding the right base setting. . then from there you should be able to tweak in many directions and get really mental sounds..

basically i would say finding the right balance of sync & FM depth and choosing a good combination of oscillators. . . this should create the basic sound texture. .

then use the filter, the effects, the envelope etc. . to deal with it from there - tweaking sync can be good, great for some strange sweeps. . but tweaking FM depth usually results in a horrible out of tune mess.

but yeah fm depth and sync settings seem to add the most character to a sound.

*edit* just recorded myself having a bit of a jam to a simple 2 bar midi loop i set up... have a listen if you like. . lots of reso/distortion editing. . sync too . . well everything really hahaha. .

I forgot the Scene Morph knob . .thats cool...
Basically you store a variation of a preset in each scene morph position (theres 2) . . so like the oscillators are the same type and such, but any knob differences are saved. . then you just turn one knob and it morphs from one to the other changing all the settings. . very cool

crazy. sounds like you can craft a very modifiable patch quite easily.

now, is the sonic devil spawn capable of being recorded and placed online?!

its not too crazy. some cool reso tweaks in it that i wish i could remember doing haha

... but when you set out to produce a trance bassline and end up doing that. .well. . lol not quite the calm controlled sound i was first looking for :lol:

oops i forgot. . also running through kp3 & sp-404..mostly just synth tweaks though
