this isn't a definition (really) but.. (I'm not religious) Christmas just passed.

Have you ever wondered why they call it X-mas? Someone told me that they "hate how they X out Christs name when someone says xmas."

We really aren't X'ing out Christs name when we say x-mas. In the greek language the bible was originally written in, X is the greek letter Chi, which is actually the letter C i believe. In any case Chi has always been an abbreviation for Christos (christ).

So there you go, all the information you ever wanted to know about the term x-mas.

Once again... Im not religious. But if you are, more power to ya. Peace be with you, live long and prosper... and if I havent already said it merry X-mas!

nope not very religious but think that stuffs intersting, cause why does everyone celibrate it , woo hoo jesus. from what i leaerned about jesus , hes a cool dude and i heard he doesnt even want people to ffollow him like a cult icon but just to be good people like him. when it comes down to it tho i think religion is spooky, and if you take it to seriuosly its pretty much being delusional. santa is a morally dangerous concept. lie to your kids on a supposedly holy day

yeah... Santa... I'm sure any SNL heads remember Dana Carvey's little skit where the Church Lady breaks down the hidden evil within the concept of Santa... rearrange the letters and we're suddenly taking material comp from Satan. Not really what I think, but this thread reminded me of it. That x-mas info is pretty interesting Whyse.
