Settings before recording the sample

Is there a way to specify the BPM and time signature of the sample prior to recording it like on the SP404 so that it automatically truncates the sample? I'm having difficulty recording my guitar and getting a good loop via the sample editing. Worst case scenario, I guess I can just leave the sample on phrase / one shot, and retrigger it in the sequencer.

not really but theres two ways.

sampling str8 up gives u a bpm based off groove, so that u can kinda control on your own by turning the metronome on to full time in your system settings and keep with the beat.

the other is with ext seq sampling. u can go this route and change the time sig to ur needs and get a more direct and controlled sample. otherwise w/ the sp404 i think a feature like that is needed because its on 4/4 and nothing else.

If I go the ext seq sampling route, does it automatically truncate it at the end of sampling? And does it HAVE to be receiving MIDI signals from other hardware?

Also, this is completely unreleated, but I figured I'd post in here rather than make a new thread.

What do the [Note Trig] and [Seq Trig] functions do? I can't find anything in the manual.

only if your exact in your playing otherwise theres always alil air to be shaved. try this: set upa quick kick/snare combo @ 4bars. record what u have using ext seq mode then plug that in. if it isnt exact then do the ext seq process over until u get used to it.

u dont need a midi signal unless u had stomp box w/ midi in, that way if u had a delay for instance, it would sync timing wise perfectly. i use this feature w/ a micro korg.

use note trig when in midi mode(meaning controller). say u had a soft synth program or even hardware, and you wanted to trigger sounds via ur sp. using midi out or with a soft synth usb midi, u can control sounds with your pads.

this method works grat with a laptop setup if u travel and have the space for it.

seq trig is used with the P606 software. not the best software but if u stare @ it long enuff i can become a good one.
