Hey guys. Do you ever use the backup Load/Save functions on the 606 Card utility screen successfully?
It says in the manual that if you do a backup load it brings all samples, patterns & settings back into the machine (replacing what's there).
Right now when I do that it only brings the patterns & songs back in and not the samples- very weird.
Luckily I had my ish saved on an external computer & got my goods back-
maybe a glitch-

Does anyone have an answer to this? I just filled up my pad banks for the first time and need to switch memory cards, but I don't want to lose all the samples.

This only works if it's samples you've imported via USB to the 606.
Sounds you sample straight into the SP have no recognizable name (I believe) so if you have a lot- can't tell what's what.

I recommend if you have a card you like. Copy the whole shebang onto a PC or Mac- takes almost 45 minutes, but if your stuff is mission critical...

Before I re-imported my 'mission critical' stuff I wiped the whole card- so I won't be able to test again til I get some more setups in there.

Can we get a few other SP-606 scientists on this study?

I know what may have caused my problem.
I had some files that I had dropped outside the Roland folder in the directory.
When I found out the hard way that that the 606 could only view 100 or so files imported via USB I was trying everything to view more so I was dragging files everywhere & that may have confused the machine which led to my prob.
I'm still all about backing up to external computer !
I've gotten less into USB transfer & more into direct sampling- I find it much quicker & instantly gratifying.

All the Roland gear I've used that has USB file transfer acts the same...everything must be inside the Roland folder, the folder must be at the top level of your computer's hard drive, etc.

That's the cause of probably 75% of all issues people have with file transfers.
