question for 404 experts

so to able/disable the send return feature on the 404 one press cancel +vinyl sim at the same time. display is S Off or S On. this works fine in SAMPLE mode.

but in PATTERN mode if i do that i get the message E Off or E On....
i checked in the manual there is no such message listed !

anybody knows what that message means and what it does ???

i'm not sure cuz i haven't used this function but would it still be in pattern mode? that's all.
edit: i mean is the pattern light on while you're doing this? i'm only askin' cuz i sometimes miss it.
edit2: wait i don't know; effect on effect off. vs. sample on sample off.
