Re: SPBB334 POLLLLLLLL
Adding some extra reviews cuz i feel bad for flaking on the last couple of votes.
K.Loor — Great sample choices, bass fit in nicely, wanted some more presence in the drums.
Loop — Same underlying sample as Loor but with lots more added texture and intricate percussion. Maybe too busy, though?
Lu — Sense of humour in the intro, transition to the main beat was seamless through the bell and reversed sample (which I really, really liked). After all that, I wanted the beat to last longer!
TGN — That the violin sample doing all the heavy lifting? Either way, sounded dope and you somehow managed to be tasteful with the DJFX. Really nice harmonizing of the vocal samples too. Is this some chromatic mode on the MKII coming into play?
Lentilsoup — Mega texture, lotta microchops, with the vox and bass to keep it from getting too disjointed.
Pazword — Sample: destroyed. Love how it comes back in relatively cleanly around the 0:40 mark at super slow speed just as the piece threatens to go completely off the rails in a roar white noise. (And then it does anyway.)
IIIII — Integrates multiple samples, drums sat right, string drone gave the whole thing a beautiful hypnotic vibe, use of the vocal samples kept the groove from becoming repetitive and was really sensitively done. Technically and musically the strongest entry for me.
So this time it's IIIII for me, with TGN a close second.
Also, respect to IIIII for stepping in for Kel and running two good battles now.

Re: SPBB334 POLLLLLLLL
Yeah I tend to overdo sometimes, I know. It's like, to me SP is pretty much like ink drawings, or linoleum carvings - there's no going back, you either embrace the mistake and make something out of it, or you start from scratch.waywardpressman wrote:Loop — Same underlying sample as Loor but with lots more added texture and intricate percussion. .
Being a lazy mo fo I almost always try to build something still
But it's all for fun either way
Great round, congrats IIIII !
