Connecting Bass Guitar Directly into the SP 555

I am thinking of getting a 555. If I connect my electric bass guitar to the 555 will it sound good? Does the guitar amp sim fx work well with bass guitar plugged into the combo jack? Is anyone recording bass into beats like this?
