Hi fam. As the thread says... any recommendations on affordable but actually good sounding turn tables? My old turn table broke (was 2nd hand eBay purchase), but now I made the mistake of getting a Denver VPL-120 (I just found out it's basically an imported and rebranded Crosley Cruiser)). It has the connectivity I was looking for, like USB and phono out and headphone out.
However the playback simply isn't that reliable (motor seems a tad weak) and records need to be really pristine, as any kind of warp will make the record slow against the lid of the turn table case. Yep, it's one of those portable ones (no battery though). I may just take the lid off or make room for records with a slight warp, but really it's just unacceptable. Needless to say, connecting my Edirol speakers improves sound quality LOADS over built-in speakers, but doesn't solve the playback issues.

Also, yep, the idea is being able to sample from LPs, at proper speed and quality. It's why I originally thought the internal speakers might not matter too much.

I'm starting to think I should have spend my $60 on a second hand turntable instead and take a risk that it might have a hiss, bend needle and so on.

I got 2 Stanton T60s you can get them both for 80 or just one for 50 plus shipping. Perfect condition, they’re taking up space.

i am a big fan of the omnitronic turntables, for example the DD-5250. i think they sound good, i couldnt hear a difference to technics 1210 for example. and pretty cheap too. here in europe you can get a pair for 300€, one sometimes for 120€. and they are amazing for turntablism, very good direct drive.

The Numark PT-01 are pretty dope.
They have good sound and last.
I have had 2 and both had a problem with the wall charger input coming loose and having to rely on battery power.
Its the best portable table for the money.
I picked up a used one last year for $40.

Even if you opt for the new model with the scratch fader, it retails just over a hundred.

Not gonna pretend like I know much about turntables... However I came up on my Techniques at local yard sales for cheap.

I would recommend searching at your local flea market or maybe even pawn shop

Pawn Shops. Got an insane deal on a Technics 1200. So if you’re patient you know where to find some bargains, you can get lucky like I did.
