I posted this to the lofi.hiphop forums but no one could really help me. Hoping some of you can. I'll just copy and paste it here:
I thought I solved it on my own but didn't...I've tried searching around and can't find a direct answer for this anywhere so hopefully some of you can shed some light.
I just bought a BRAND NEW 1gb Transcend Compact Flash Card 133x so I can use my SP404 OG to actually make beats instead of just using it for effects. Well when I plug in the CF card and try turning on my 404, nothing happens. It just stays off. However, when there is no CF card in it at all, it turns on just fine and I can use it just like I have been (as an effects outboard).
Does anyone know how to fix this? Anyone know why this is happening?
Somehow I got the 404 to turn on when my CF card was inserted and I formatted it on the 404. I ejected it and tried connecting it to my Macbook Pro with this Targus adapter thing. Got an error message that said 'The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer.' Found some page on the web that said to go to disk utility on your mac and "erase" the CF card so it'll be readable. Great, now it's readable and shows up on my computer BUT when I insert it back into my 404 and try turning it on, nothing happens/it won't turn on. I'm back to the original problem.
I've tried multiple things (e.g. erasing the card to a different format, using a windows instead of a mac, etc.) and I still can't get my 404 to turn on when the CF card is inserted. I just want to be able to load samples onto the card on my computer and then load those samples onto the 404 so I can use it. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
