Pattern length function disabled -SP404

Pattern length function disabled -SP404
My pattern length in pattern record mode is stuck on 2 bars. When I press the button and use ctrl 3 it stays stuck on 2 bars... any thoughts? My ctrl 3 works fine with all other functions.

no chance to shorten a pattern though!
