need to record the bass for a track but how do i get it to properly punch through

do i just sidechain?

i have the 404sx

but id record it all onto ableton or logic separately cos i know you can record instruments into sx very well

yup! when used right it has a side chain like effect on low end sounds.

try this: record everything on ableton then play with each of the track levels while using mfx12, in this case your bass would be higher volume than the rest of your track.. good luqq
