Hi

i make beats by sampling

i use sp404sx,mpc studio

i want to make old school hip hop beats

and i always get stuck in the bass

how did old school hip hop beats did there bass??

but how that exactly go??


just copy the main sample my beat is playing


and cut the high part and boost the low part???

sample a bass note on you mpc. then roll off any hi's or mid's, then pitch 16 levels.

I forgot which producer it was that said this but essentially he liked to use the FLUTE patches on keyboards because they push a lot of air if you play them in the lower frequencies.

Sine waves are cool, but I think using like a pan flute would be more interesting.

This, and ad a low volume filtered kick on the same pad to get
that subtle bump in the begining, witch imo makes the bass more rhythmic
and interesting.
