 Post subject: SP 404 & AKG K171 STUDIO

e yo regaz, i've got AKG K171 STUDIO headphone for mixing shit and when i connect it to my SP 404 the volume is too low...i've tried to pomp up the volume of the SP at max but is always low.

Yo.

Borrow some headphones from a friend, and see if the volume is still too low. If it's not, then you know it's the headphones, if not then there's probably something up with your 404.

I usually gotta turn the volume down a bit on my 404 :) But, if it is your headphones something u can try is hold down "cancel" and "start/end/level" and turn knob 3. This will boost the internal digital level. That should fix your problem.

AKG studio headphones are fantastic but are usually used in a full studio setting with headphone amps to boost the signal and drive the magnets harder. Just run the output of your sampler through something that has a pre-amp and see if it boosts the level. It's the same with a lot of turntables, my old turntable has a switch under the plate that turns on a pre-amp and boost the signal from the table. You find all kinds of stuff when you take things apart to fix them. I like to mix on headphones more than monitors, I usually just test the beat on my home stereo equipment to hear it on speakers.
