Beat tapes
Yo is there any dope instrumental cassettes for sale on band camp etc? trying to get a collection going.
Re: Beat tapes
Endless loads, dude, just wander around a bit. Seems like every other Soundcloud producer also sports a link over to his Bandcamp page.
My homie CRSSSPACE, who is also a member here, for example has a release up there and I discovered this Canadian label, Inner Ocean and ordered a couple of tapes there. Also I recall that every now and then board members announce a tape release so maybe the Search… will get you something.
Intercontinental shipping costs always suck, though
I'd love to stack my library a bit higher, always bump cassettes in the car on my way to work.

Re: Beat tapes
Its worth it for some dope material though. Alot of them are limited runs so they hold value or increase depending on how dope it is. Lord beatjitzu under the alias mazinga z and Bruce li released a few tapes and the music has not been released digitally. I feel more artist should do this it creates a real incentive to buy physical copies whilst supporting the artist and also increases the value of the tape. Cassettes are really coming back these days. Thanks for the reply I'll be sure to check him out.Rhua wrote:Intercontinental shipping costs always suck, thoughI'd love to stack my library a bit higher, always bump cassettes in the car on my way to work.

Re: Beat tapes
I haven't really heard anything worth copping on tape released recently.
Not to say there's no dope music.
I wish Ill Green put his latest release on cassette.
Mujo put out a vinyl recently that is pretty rad.
I'm patiently waiting for that Wakizashi Jabberwockyz album to drop, and there is a good chance that is getting pressed to cassette. That's a must have for my beat tape collection.
With cassettes, you gotta buy within the first month, maybe even weeks before they sell out.
Which makes it imperative you follow your fav artists.
Babdcamp is dope cus you just hit the Follow button and they'll email you when the artist drops something new.
Find some dope blogs to follow cus sometimes a act won't put the release on Bandcamp, but they'll have it distributed elsewhere. Or they'll team up with a label and put it out through them.
I do wish more heads would press cassettes for their tapes.
It's dope to collect. Unique listening experience. And you'll have it forever ( unless you sell it like an idiot).
I admire projects that are pressed to tape. And respect those producers still recording to 4 tracks.
It's a shame when you hear a album, download it from some drop site, then it gets lost with time and youre hunting for a reup.
I hate MP3s, but if you're gonna collect them, drop a few bucks on the artist and support their craft.

Re: Beat tapes
I am gonna cop Mujos vinyl for sure. Yeah you gotta just keep your eyes and ears out for the gold. I'll keep searching! People on here should have a beat comp for a tape, where everybody can vote for which songs they want. Fund it through kickstarter or some other means and whoever chips in a certain amount gets a tape..if there's any profit it could be split between featured producers. Could call it amalgamated dopeness, Imperial frequencies, Sp supreme sonic saga. Or some other name haha.
Peace
