Making Your Own Video(s)?

What's up y'all!

Been wanting to get into video/audio stuff for a while now, just haven't made the jump at any video stuff. Right now I'm looking at a few different cameras - nothing crazy expensive, just something useable.

Ultimately - a camera that can shoot double exposure videos would be the uber-dopeness but I'm not 100% sure what all is out there as far as that goes. Currently the "Harinezumi 4" is at the top of the list but I'm having a hard time figuring out if I can shoot double exposure videos with it (I know it can take pictures like this though).

Does anyone here have any experience with cameras that can take double-exposed videos or know of any free/cheap programs that I can start experimenting with video layering?

Been having an incredibly hard time finding info about lo-fi video creation. And since I'm not a hardcore camera guy... most of the message boards/discussion groups I've seen are talking waaaaaay out of my league.

I really know next to nothing about this. But just get started with what you've got. Nothing wrong with lofi, right? A few years back the local film festival here screened a full length movie shot with just cellphones.

I'd assume that it'd be easier to layer different video clips in an editor, instead of double exposing within the camera. Then you can shuffle it all around and match what's happening in the music etc.

Nay! Nothing wrong with lo-fi stuff. Since I'd just be making short videos the quality doesn't need to be anything crazy, in fact I would appreciate a lower video quality... especially for the first few things I have in mind.

And yeah, I agree about the layering in software. That would be the best way to go... just need to start downloading some editors and messing around, find what I dig. Luckily I have both Mac & PC so platform is not an issue (schwing!).

Guess I have investigative work to do this week.

a cool free software to put nice fx on videos is virtualdub, but is very very basic on editing them (cut, copy, trim etc is not well developed)...

if you're on a mac, imovie is pretty capable and final cut pro is even better. I'm pretty new to video editing and stuff but I really enjoy doing it. Just choose a program and go with it. They all basically do the same thing anyways, though the upgraded versions are better of course.

The easiest way to do double exposure vids is prob to layer and adjust opacity and shit. I'm not aware of any cameras that can take double exposure video.

Making video lo fi is basically the same with audio. You can find fx to layer on, final cut has a "bad tv" fx. You can adjust the colors to your liking. You can also make another layer and shift it and then adjust the opacity to make it look out of phase. There are prob better ways but I go at it as if I were making music. Just keep layering and fuck with sliders and shit hahaha.

I mentioned this before somewhere, a cool effect is to get 2 projectors then you can mix the videos together kind of, then record it with a camera.

If your a hardcore dork like me and dont mind a few bugz(for now), try Kdenlive for Linux, it is on its way to being the best video editor, pretty complex tho, when it comes to layering in custom blue screens and stuff tho.

Yo, that sounds cool. I got a good wall space for the projection but I dont have any projectors
