Great batch of samples IIIII but was a tough challenge imo... I aint gonna say much this week, only that the vote goes to carlos for laying his soul bare.

Peace.

Thanks for a nice round! Great job with samples to a theme. I found the cheesy soundtrack-song really hard to mine for nuggets. ;-) I'm simply not skilled enough yet to process it until unrecognizeable.

Stupid gurner: Hugh, wide sound, spooky atmosphere.

Carlos: Really like that detuned synth intro. Moves along slowly but is varied enough to stay interesting.

LIF: Definite winner of the hockey-mask-on-award. Sounds like pure evil.

DimXL - indeed dim and dusk, I especially enjoy the first 25 seconds where its cool and minimalistic.

Ellaguru: Nice contrast between the filtered bass notes and the ping-pong synth. Nice way to layer things and get some depth to the sound. As a beat it doesn't do it for me.

Janglesoul: what an awful shitty tune. but you finished it!

iiiii - really interesting textures. Like entering some cool room.

Final verdict: I find Carlos and iiiii most pleasing to the ears. But since the battle rules actually called for making a beat with a costume on my clear winner is LIF.

Carlos.  Really like those chilled sine tone chords, hi hat rhythms are sweet too.

Lif.  Brutality! This is pure dirty horror movie stuff! twisted!

DimXL.  Really nice use of space in the track, you found some nice sounds in that bunch of samples!

Ellaguru.  sweet early90s junglist vibe! Would have loved a dirty chopped amen over the dischordance!

Janglesoul.  Nice use of that piano sample, and cool broken drums, nice bit of light and shade in the track too

iiiii.  This is cool man, it's totally taken the samples out of context and put them back together in a fully unique way, love this!

In the end it was between lif and iiiii. both awesome head nodders, both fit the mood nicely. Great entries all round!  Lif just pipped it for me, just fits the Halloween horror movie bill :-)

Carlos and IIIII nearly close.
Voted for Carlos.

@Janglesoul
Man thanks for the criticism, but the intentiin was NOT to make a beat at all, just something different
@stupidgurner
yeah, that could have been cool! Go ahead and feel free to do it if you want

Yeah, I suppose I actually understood that, you sure know how to make beats. Sorry, if my words came out a bit wrong. Experiments are always worthy of bonus points!

Such a cool track Carlos!! The agit-fear vocals are what did it for me.. that's you puffing away there, I presume! ;)

And thanks much to ST.G and Jangle for the votes ( my first, i think ) it was a costume of sorts.. i do enjoy super-cheese metal (think boreboms, melvins, backyard burial... shit, i drummed in a band called necroglacial enema for a while :P , cracks me up :D
