Buying a sp 202
Hey guys so im about to get an sp 202 for 100$, it comes with 2 smart cards. I cant find anything online but how would i go about importing and exporting files? I kno an audio interface would work but I dont have money for that. Would it be better if i got a smart media card adaptor? Also i have a 404sx and that has a software but on the 202 how do you put a kick to pad one and hat to pad 2, etc?

my very personal advice: if you got the 404 yet. better to buy a soundcard before, an m-audio fast track pro is around 70€ here (france) so i beleive that should be more or less tha same in the usa...70€=95usd...
...but don't worry, i contradict myself two lines below here...

Re: Buying a sp 202
Thank you, i originally got the 404sx to be limited but i feel like i still need less stuff to work with. I also heard the lofi grit of the 202 and i like it, i feel like 404sx is too high quality for me, probably just bad at making stuff. I dont mess around with tape or anything all i do is import hip hop drums and play keyboard into pad and resample.

if you are into limitation as a creative tool, then the 202 is the way to go.

Don't get an adapter. You shouldn't keep taking those cards out of the 202. Get yourself either a used audio interface. Also you can't sequence tracks on the 202. So you'll have to record yourself playing your beats out into the 404 or into something else.

Just run your 202 thru the 404 to record. Chop your drum samples with the MARK button on the 202 then record your performances to the 404. I have more fun playing my 202 live then I ever did sequencing beats. 404 and 202 is a great combination. Have a blast!
PS if you ever want to sell one of your memory cards I'd be seriously interested. Just pm me anytime.
