Hey whats up everybody, I just finally got my SP 404 and damn is it a hell of a machine. I was thinking about getting the MPC 1000 but I think I made a good choice with the SP 404. I also got it brand new from this warehouse for only 250 so I got a great deal. Anyways, I was curious to know what many of u guys do when it comes to layering your Kicks,Snares, and Hi-Hats and what Quantize u use. Man im xcited ass hell and can't wait to jump on this thing....U know what Im going to reckless records right now...hell yeah

sup man, where you from?

to start with, use quantize 8 when you're doing hats, 4 with snares, and 16 for kicks. that should ensure everything clicks. as you get more familiar with the machine you probably won't need quantize as much

in terms of layering, you can resample and play the two sounds together, or you can sequence them to play simultaneously.

hope that helps

you can record into your computer. it helps if you have a decent soundcard, but it's definitely doable with the factory one

use a program like Audacity, Cool Edit, Reaper to record

you can hook the line out of the sp to line in on the comp. and record using audacity.

Do you have any recording equiptment like tape or digital recorder.

so I assume you want recording equiptment rather than hooking the SP to computer and using free software.

It gonna depend on what you want. do you want tape or CD or digital recorder. do you want fx, how many tracks, ect.

If you computer has a sound card with a line in then you only need a cable to connect the outputs of your 404 to the line in of your computer's sound card.
