^ I agree. As a new member to the SP family I'd also like to watch this video for some info.

if you do your mixes inside the 404sx .. just resample to desired track length then put SD card into laptop .. or card reader

I can make a quick video showing method of using computer as recording source soon. Unless someone beats me to it. I'll be putting one together later today.

Quick and dirty on a couple of methods for moving tracks to computer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3jKXcnQV4v4

Also, I cover a bit about using 404 in multitrack environment. Included in tutorial are what you need and some workarounds, etc. If you got questions, just ask. Hope this helps the new guys out.

Thanks for clearing up my confusion I appreciate you taking time out of your day to make a vid for those of us who need it.the process is more straightforward than I thought.

I heard you mention "bouncing to tape" ..is that process just as simple as the one you showed in the video? which do you prefer?

BTW I liked the instrumental of yours later on in the vid it was chill

What I meant by 'bouncing to tape' is something you can also do on computer. I just prefer tape because I don't like mixing software and hardware that intimately. :)

Basically, if you're wanting to layer quantized (i.e. perfect tempo stuff) samples on top of each other, the SP doesn't allow you to play MIDI IN or play pattern and resample that. So what you would do is create a pattern that you like, then record it to external device. Then playback that device into the SP and sample it.

I can show that on another vid sometime. It's not that hard. But that's waht I mean by bounce to tape. It's also useful if you just don't want the 2 stereo sample constraint when you're adding another layer to your resampling. For instance, I bounced to tape on a track where I wanted to play the drums live but they were all stereo drums playing over a stereo song structure. So I bounced to tape to record it all live then re-sampled it back into the SP.

P.S. The final version of that tune you heard is here:

This is a nine years old thread, I'm guessing that the OP deleted the video in the meantime
