I was wondering if anyone has this problem and it was a standard thing?
I sequence whole beats on the SP 404 OG, so seperate drum hits + bass + samples etc. But it always gets to a point with a tune where I cant add anymore elements as the other bits, for example a sample, will be adversely affected i.e the sample will be released or the additional element I'm trying to add will only hold for half a second.
I use a 1gb memory card so thats the max for the 404 OG.
Is it just one of those tings which you have to accept when sequencing on this thing as it doesn't have the ability to deal with too much at once?
Cheers for any knowledge

it has 12 polyphony. you can only play like 2 stereo samples together or 4 mono. somewhere in the manual it details it out. make your drums mono to save space.

Re: Sequencing
If you need more sounds playing at once, resample with several sounds playing together. Unfortunately you can't resample sequence playing, but you can, say, bounce to tape or computer then play it back to the input line on the 404.

Re: Sequencing
can the 303 sample patterns? I think i heard that it did but i forgot. The 808 can and its a dam shame that the 404sx cant. Resampling is cool but when you make a simple pattern and tweak the start points to get some cool groove, be nice to resample that shit. My timing is ok but those little tweaks make the difference in a nice rhythm.
