I'm about to get one, either the Numark pt1 or vesatex handy t.

Prolly the Numark joint.
Anybody on this forum having one?

I want it because my current turntable is in a chain through a lot of gear and it's a pain in the ass if you just want to listen to music, I always have to fire up my gear...

I saw that there is a built-in speaker. I would like to use that to just listen to records and getting inspired. I don't need perfect sound quality, but I'm still curios if the speaker is any good.

I'm about to buy one of these too. The sound from the speaker is ok, nothin great. For digging, it seems like the perfect shovel.

I've used a pt-01 for 3 years with no problem whatsoever. It's great for sampling and you don't need a mixer.

It's nothing special really but enough for listening to old records.Let's say that it's ok.

I def Cosign the pt-01, been using it for a couple of years with no complaints. I find it gives your records a nice warm sound due to the internal amp.

got the pt-01 as well, internal speaker is fine to listen through, no mixer necessary to sample from it, its a good little turntable for the price

I've got the pt-01 as well. I never bring it when I'm out digging, I bought it cos I don't have that much space and it doesn't need a preamp either. I really like how light it is as well. It's got a 78rpm speed too, which some turntables don't have, not that I own any 78's but that kind of thing is useful, it just gives u more pitch options etc

Numark over Vestax in this case. It's even a few bucks less.
The sound quality is surprisingly decent for a porta-table, and it takes up a smaller footprint. I own it I've had associates with both.
One nut even did use it to scratch with with decent results! There's no way you'll be whipping it like Q-Bert, but in a pinch it'll work.
One think to keep in mind (I would never use mine to cut) is the replacement needles for the Numark are a pain in the neck to obtain- so you're better off babying it. A low quality TT with a clean record will sound better than a top-of-the-line TT with a dusty/schmegged up rec.
There was another portable turntable available in the 80's by (Columbia?) that you can find on Ebay sometimes, and the thing looks and sounds really cool as well- but if you don't like it unless it's brand new, cop the Nu (which by the way is an OEM item..) aka it is generically made, and Numark just 'brands' it for sale in the states- Search around on the net and you'll see the exact same TT without the Numark logo-

Damn right, there's hardly any record shops in Belfast as it is, when I DO find somewhere selling them, I don't wanna be the dick who's brought his own turntable! lol
