new MPC!

Post by mostblunted »

Yes it's true. MPC5000 is out.
It looks like they just jammed a bunch of new shit in the 2500.

Wow! Best MPC yet for sure. I think he said its got 49 effects now. Just as many as SP's. I'm sure the effects aren't as good, but at least they are there.

Four grand? You can buy a decent used car for that ammount, or pay off four months of rent, or buy a bunch of cocaine and sniff it til you die

of course akai are just trying to make money. that's what all companies are doing.

i think it's neat. obviously will replace the 4000 at the top of the food chain of MPCs.

i'd still like to get an MPC 500 and team it with my 404. most people, even here, hate on the 500 but recently i played with one and it's actually a pretty nice piece of gear.

8 track recording is nice. the unit itself seems really dehumanised to me.

oh and a special screen function so you can tell what pads are playing? SP still wins with light up pads.

LinnDrum II will own this thing, watch and see. I can't believe akai is so detached from what's going on in beatmaking communities, they're also trying to steal Roger Linn's designs again by adding a virtual synth to that big ugly thing. That virtual analog synth has no chance of standing against a Dave Smith designed real analog synth.

word, might aswell rock ableton live & a trigger finger, an with the Linndrum II pro-to type out, there still may be changes... if ya'll planning to cop the 5000, i definitely wait till the LinnDrum II drops & see what it has to offer...

ha ha!
hey beatjitzu have u been to the local music shop(shimamura)? i just saw that they are selling the new and improved 1k for about 15000 yen more so asked if they could get me just the pads and i also had to explain why the new one was more expensive and he said they couldn't do it. i wonder if akai is trying to make them(pad kits) unavailable here so they can sell the newer ones.

anyway, it's crazy, the store i go to has three mpc1ks: the red is the cheapest, then there is the middle priced black one and now this. that really goes to show how popular there pads are now-a-days. on the other hand there are only two 606's left.
insert funny comment here.

I ordered my 1K online and I remember sweating it out a few days before it came just hoping that the damn thing had the new pads! (it did, thank christ!)

It shouldn't be such a lottery though, kinda put me off buying any more MPC or Akai type gear to be honest, I don't think they're a very reliable company pulling stuff like that on people who're already paying too much for their products. I mean, if it wasn't for the JJOS I don't think a 1K would be worth £500 personally.
