MFX 10 - wah wah effect has automatic "modulation" (if thats the correct word to use) on the SX

On the OG you must manually turn the knob to achieve the "modulation"

it also matches up with the bpm in pattern mode on sx

Yo so if you turn on effect limit on sx, knob 2 on mfx12 turns from attack to release :3 ... Not sure if this has been mentioned

^^^

correct.

Also, effect limit stays in the last mode you set it to when you turn it off on the SX.

On the OG if you turn effect limit on, it goes back to off when you turn the sampler off.

I wanted to note that

There is a difference in the Vinyl Sim wow/flutter effect on both samplers.

SX - sounds more wobbly like how vinyl record flutter really sounds.

OG - sounds more like electronics with a dying battery.

both are actually pretty nice in their own way tbh.

i use the vinyl sim (sx) sometimes to cut high frequencies as its not as extreme as the isolator. it can also lend a nice muted sound to synths if you want a quick way to emulate a vintage tone

Right now it's hard to find a cheap 555, but I've seen sx go for 350... Get that learn it, or wait and grab a 555 when the price drops again.

i like the lo-fi/bit crash on the 404og better then the one on the SX.

it has a more crunchy sound with less of a high pitch ring to it.

I like how much faster i tend to chop things on the SX compared to the OG.

chopping and looping stuff on the OG feels "clunky" when you compare it to the smoothness of the SX imo.

ie. like when you resample on the OG there is a delay on the first hit which is not present on the SX.

I just ordered an SX, I really appreciate all the info. It's nice to hear both models have unique qualities.

Also i gotta say i love the SX "function" ability vs the OGs button combinations.

And the Back up saving/loading on the SX > OG.

I've been reading this thread, along with a couple of others on the forum. I've read about the various diffs but I wanted to know about the comp/vs in particular.

The way that people describe the comp is actually something I'm looking for. Is there a way to apply comp to pads that already have the vs pre-baked into them w/ the remain function and have it work exactly the same as the 404og?? Or maybe not the technique I just described, but some sort of layering that would require an extra step or whatever? I'm sure it can be done, but the question would be whether or not it sounds as good as the OG.

For example, what if you apply the vinyl sim to all pads that you wanted, then resampled those into a new pad, and then apply compression to that new pad?
