Im curious if the majority of forum members use resample method or the pattern sequencer to make full beats.

ill usually mix the track down in the pattern sequencer then rebuild it with the resample method.

I voted both.

all my "sampled" beats tend to be quick "microwaves" so resample all the way. There are downsides but It is a very fluid way of working IMO.

both is the way to go, i like building up bits of tracks with resampling but then i like to record the final track into the sequencer so i can bounce it to tape from there :D

Pattern sequencer all day.
I don't like NOT being able to mute a snare or hat. Or cut off a sample.
Bounce to tape, mfx back to sp

I didn't know there would be so many resamplers

There's a manual that shows you how to use the sequencer ya know

I use to be in the resample but seriously. A 404 on 99 bar long no quantize no metro is dope. Like resampling but no poly limitomgomgomg

Then bounce to your favorite other sampler, then back in for some mfx 14.

I do not use the pattern sequencer. If I need grid sequencing there are a million things that are better. However, resample method allows you so change time signatures, slow things up, etc. To me, going gridless means relying on feel. If I use a grid, I have to work hard to add feel. Any of the things you need to do (mute snares, etc) can be accomplished with the resample method if you plan ahead. Ive heard folks do some nice stuff either way, whatever works for you is the way to do it. But for me...fuck a quantize and that beep.

This sounds like a 'best of both' way of working. Can you explain a bit more please? Do you use one shots or loops or a combination to form the layers?

Started using both. Make a base drum pattern or two using resample. Match BPM in pattern mode and loop the drums. Go back and add samples/whatever in the sequencer.

Can someone outline a detailed walkthrough of an example of the resampling method.

I am super curious...

I am low on time. Here's a nutshell of a fast microwave un.

Chop musical sample or two or three (or 12). Play samples while tapping out drum beat at the same time and resample performance. Mark ends so it is a smooth loop. Do it again (resample performance) with variation. Do it again with variation. Do it again with variation. You get it... Now, leave all the loops and samples on [gate+loop]. Hit resample. Jump from pad to pad, including some of the original samples (drum one shots, og chopped samples) and build up a track live (no rules on timing or grid...just your own developed timing). With the completed track, resample with dropped effects..compress and eq to your liking. Export, delete samples, start over. There's a lot more, including techniques you develop to get the right sound that might effect the order of how you build up loops (maybe drums first) and levels you use.

Burn cd for your mom to bump in her whip.
