Recording a pattern to a sampled loop

Post by teefmurray »

I recorded a guitar riff and am trying to record a pattern to match it - a drum beat. When I record the pattern the sample playback turns off so I have nothing to play over when recording the pattern. Any advice for matching the two ? - op' maybe it makes more sense to match the sample to the beat - ill try that - just thought of that - but stoked to find this board - cheers

Try this, take the guitar sample off of "loop" play. When the pattern returns to the first measure it will trigger the guitar sample again and you will have something to play to !

what i do is... record the riff as a normal sample with an ext motronome if needs be. then i resample the riff and play drums on top. remeber to make your drums mono because of the lack of voices when resampling.

Depends on what SP you got. All are not somewhat equal. But with the SPs 303, 505, and 606 you can play samples off the pads while the pattern is playing, even can adjust the BPM of the pattern so you can match the sample.
