Record Notes Or Sequence?

Wondering how everyone uses their SPs. Do you record individual hits or notes of a bass in and then play them out in pattern sequence mode or record a bass sequence in as a single sample and play that?

i record my bass too, this is a great question, but it really depends on what you're shootin' for. i may have a riff in mind and then record it into my 505, but after messin with the sample i may process it and chop it up which allows me to do more complex and different riffs. so sometimes chopping your own riffs can create cool new sounds, or if you already have a melody in mind that will work with a beat, then simply recording your instrument and playing it back will work.
