Hi I Need Help!
I had my Sp 606 for several years now and I noticed that this weird menu would pop up sometime on my machine that allows u to test the machine levels and signals and it had other cool features. I know its probably some button sequence or code that I pressed on accident but I still cant seem to figure out what I did to get that menu back. Im guessing that this happens to other sp 606 machines too because my brother also owns sp 606 and he said his machine did it too. So i know its not a glitch! And I Know somebody could probably help me out and also teach all the other sp 606 users a nice new trick! Please and Thanks!

Hmmm...sounds like you got into the system dianostic setting which can be accessed by hitting Menu. There you can customize the 606 to your liking such as contrast, pad sensitivity master volume etc.

Is that what you're talking about. No, no secret feature about that.

Oh, ok. There seems to be an unknown amount of easter eggs with Roland products lately so I don't doubt your finding.

I'll see what I can dig up, but Rolandus don't like to translate their Japanese site much, I'm sure its somewhere there. I'll experiment.

Ah, the Konami code...

The GS-10 goes into Test Mode by holding Tap+Chorus while turning it on. I haven't figured (nor found) what combination does the same for the SP-555. I think there was a video on youtube showing the test mode on a GT-Pro (titled "light show" or something like that).

That's probably on the 606's service manual, which I assume would be available on teh internets somewhere.

Beware that you might get stuck in Test Mode, with the GS-10 I got as far as using a guitar overdrive to trick the Exp Pedal test and then got stuck on the Midi In test (lack of proper gear and not knowing what kind of Midi message I was supposed to send in). Turned it off, turned it on and everything was fine though - don't know how it works for other units (might brick or need an OS reset or something like that).

Oh, just a test. I thought it was a hidden menu to unlock features like normalize and to allow resampling on any bank. I'm not really impressed now.

BUT FUCK IT...

SP-606 ALBUM COMING SOON!!!

THE FULL LP!!!

YEAH!!

Oops, no sorry, the Owners manual is easy to find (I saw there are a few versions), but this question was about the Service manual, or Service Notes as Roland/Boss calls these.

Thanks

I also got this menu today. Interesting.

Anybody has the service notes for the 606?

Hi, found them on the forum.

https://sp-forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=24160

This is the service manual, but it does not to seem to include this menu.

But, I was able to get it again today. I was hitting a few pads randomly while starting up and the menu showed up again several times.

The way to get it is a frantically hitting PAD BANK during start up while the lights are blinking and when the pad banks menu appears on screen after start up, hit EXIT (or any key).

You can do al kinds of tests and adjustments. Be wise and don't brick your 606. :-)
