Have you installed the drivers on the comp?

Do have the latest OS update?

You don't need the SP to be plugged in to install the Drivers. Once the drivers are installed the comp will recognize the SP. Did you get a manual with the SP unit?

As I said - install the drivers BEFORE plugging in th SP. The SP is not plug and play

Did you get a manual?

I don't have the 606, but I do know that a rule of thumb is to install the drivers first before installing any hardware, even USB stuff.

You can get a manual from Roland's Web site. You will need a "Backstage Pass" account, which costs no money, in order to download any instruction manuals. Click on the black R ticket graphic once you've made your account then click the button marked Product Manuals.

It has nothing to do with the USB port, I'm pretty sure

Until you install the driver the Computer will not 'detect new hardware'.

I think you need to get a manual for your SP-606. It's not the best manual but it will help a good deal with this sort of problem..
