Something really stupid just happened to me.

I was cleaning my little studio (which is a 7x7 closet btw) and I disconnected the SP-606 to get to the dust behind it, then I reconnected it. Later on I go back and power it up, and everything is working fine. So I went to sample a record and as soon as the needle hits the vinyl, the pattern automatically plays :?: I pressed stop and it did, and the machine was quiet. So I tried to play the record again and AGAIN the pattern begins to play. I was like WTF! because I don't even use MIDI and I'm looking at the jacks and they look fine to me. I thought it was the CF card so I reformatted it but still the pattern plays when a signal passes through, so I opened up a brand new card and formatted that to the SP...and nothing. :x

Yelling within my mental, I said "Damn, this shit is acting like I got a footswitch!" and thats when it hit me. I checked the cables again, and this time I noticed the R jack was connected to the Footswitch input

What a kick in the head.

Yeah, that was a real head-cracker. But its mindless accidents like these that get you to discover new things with your machines. Now I know I don't have to buy a footswitch to trigger patterns or such, I can use a turntable or cd player.
