hi
i'm new to this forum.
i've got an sp-303 and i would like to buy an sp-606.

that's the list of questions:
-is it possible, during the resampling function, to hear the metronome?
-is it possible to switch( and record the movements) the Fx Ctrl when recording patterns?
-is it possible to make a succession of patterns not manually?
-can we use the Roll when resampling or during recording patterns?
-can we record D-beam synth performance (or some portions) in the sp-606?
-can we us sp-606 like an FX module (like sp-303)?
-i've heard that sp-606 has not a good midi stability when in synch mode: what could you tell me about it?
-How much internal memory it got?
-can we change the pitch(and the leght)of the samples?

thanx very much for all advise and all the answers

i look at the "Resampling" chapter (chapter 3 page 44-46):there's no mention about the metronome...please don't tell me that is the same thing like the sp-303...

...for the other questions i wait for suggestions.

#1: as far as i know for resampling the metronome doesn't work
#2: u should be able to capture the d-beam while recording
#3: yes u can use the 606 like an fx module
#4: yea its possible to record your fx changes on the fly while recording

i'm not extremely knowledgeable about this stuff n #1 i'm not 100% on. hopefully others can elaborate

if you keep your 303 then that with the 606 would solve the first question. The manual pattern question I dont understand it?? It has a step note sequencer and a step sample sequencer if thats what you mean, (not recording in real time???)

...? but the two don't have metronome in resampling mode...could you please explain this more better?

for the question about the patterns "manually": with the sp-303 you cannot make follow precisely the patterns between them because you have to do this by your own hands; is this the same for the sp-606? maybe the answer is The Song Mode...

another little question...
the sp-606 is a little beast...but without the p606 software is it able to do the most of things? i mean, have we had to have everytime with us a pc? what is the capacity of the sp-606 sequencer? is it strong enough? i ask you that because someone comparing the sp-606 with the akai mpc 1000 tells me that the sp alone is not that beast....and also that it isn't very performant in midi synch... :(

MIDI on the 606 is working excellent for most people!

Don't let an MPC boy fool you, they probably know nothing about the 606 except rumors spread by the MPC community. Most of those rumors are false.

It's true that the 606 sequencer is very different compared to the MPC1000, much less tracks (only 4) instead of 64 tracks. Still using Song Mode and stitching patterns together it's very possible to make excellent songs on the 606! It is limited, but you do not need P606 software for it to work.

To be honest P606 is cool, but not that useful except for sampling new sounds from. Of course, people that are more into Grooveboxes might disagree on this, as the program itself isn't bad at all.

Activate the metronome on one of the machines, then resample with the other while listening to the metronome on your 303. It's tricky to do, but it might work.

By the way, I could be wrong, but I thought the 606 can have metronome on during resampling, just set it to 'always' in the system menu.

hey PHeMoX
i thank you for all your words!!
finally i think that i will buy an sp-606 because if p606 isn't much inportant i agree with you with the fact that you don't have to have 64 tracks to do a good song...
...the creativity is not forcely 64 tracks...
i'll tell you more: i'm in europe (france) i can find the sp-606 (second hand) for only 300 euro...not bad at all :D

Nice man, only 300€ is an awesome deal for the 606! Do you get compact flash cards with it? The 512mb cards are difficult to find these days.

the song mode is definitly better you can record shorter patterns and string them together. The limitations of the 4 track sequencer can be over come by the song mode, just more work. 300 is definitly a good deal I would buy for sure. :D

yes, thanx for the advices!
your song method could work to over this trick.
could some of you tell me if ROLL can be record (in resampling or in patterns)? It would be nice if it will be so, like that i'll be able to do some Squarepusher/Aphex Twin dr'ill patterns! 8)
i'm trying to make the deal with some guys here, i want to buy this beast!
thanx
