How Do I Delete Everything From Memory Card?

I just got my sp606 today in the mail and everything seems to work as far as I can tell. Except when I go to an empty pattern and press rec > play, it says "memory full".

I went into "card util" and tried deleting all the backup files, but they were all empty to begin with.

Then I tried formatting the card, and it completed successully, but when I go back to try to record again, it says the same thing - "memory full", or once it said "pattern full".

I went into microscope edit for that pattern and there was no data at all, so how could it be full?

I got this used on ebay, so there is a chance it had problems to begin with. I'm thinking at worst, I need a new memory card, it doesn't seem like its a problem with the machine.

Has anyone experienced this and know how to correct it?

Okay, I figured it out. I had to delete at least one of the pad banks. Now I can record new patterns.

It still seems strange though that 4 pad banks used up all the memory on a 256mb card. It appears that the previous owner copied the 4 stock banks to her memory cards banks 1-4. Maybe those stock sounds take up a lot of memory, idk.

I had some problems getting a good response from the pads at first, but I got my keyboard setup now as the controller and it works fine now.

My next step is to midi the data from my keyboard into the 606 sequencer so that I can play back the sounds from the keyboard.

I'm able to record the data from the keyboard while playing the sounds from the 606, but I haven't figured out how to play my keyboard sounds out of the 606.

I have the midi I/O connected on both, and I have a 1/4" patch cord running from the 606 output to my amp/speakers.

Can anyone help?

padbanks 1-10 are saved in the internal memory (16mb)

11-whatever are on the card

That's a bug in the 606.

If the internal memory is 100% full it will not let you save anything to the card regardless of how much space is available.

You can't sequence keys with the 606 per se-

A good method is to jam on your keys into the 606, when you got a good riff going- sample that and work up like that.
OR
If using a multitracker...
Track your drum beat...
Play keys over the beat...
Then sample the keyboard parts you like back into the 606-

these methods are actually iller than midi sequencing cuz then you get to effect your key parts...

Yep, true, however it's supposed to be fixed with the latest OS that's available on the Roland website.
