I always recording all my stuff from my 404 to cassette, then the whole song back onto the 404 so I can export the 'sample' which by then is the whole track and transfer it to my computer.

Can the 606 record samples that are about 5 minutes long, then export it to wav and then transfer it via usb to my mac?

Yes, it definitely can. :)

I use this a lot, I sample a lot from mp3s on my computer, through the USB using my SP-606 as playback device. I've already recorded, sampled and exported lots of long samples (5 minutes and more). It works like a charm. 8)

Even exporting works fast and to get them to your PC all you need to do is use your SP-606 as external storage device. It's easy.

why run it to a cassette player in the first place? does that give it a grittier sound?

i would just run from 404/606's line out to soundcard line in and record it using cool edit or something as a wav file.

I have no soundcard in or any interface. I recorded that way because I had too.

I have a 606 now. It's the bomb.

the 606 is a soundcard in itself... wow so you ended up koppin the 606... you can shift notes in the 606. adjustable swing %... real nice fx's in that box. check the guitar amp simulator fx, that isht gets the sound real dirty... have fun with that... 8)
