When i first brought my SP home...i stuck my 128 mb cf card and formatted it......from what ive been told the cf card works as sampling time....on my sampling screen it shows roughly 3:58 minutes of sample time....does that sound accurate for a 128 mb card?........i hope so.....im trying to get my hands on a 512mb or at least 1gb....let me know please??

I think the 606 is limited to 512mb cards.

yes it does get the 512 and that is plenty. If you record in stereo it uses more memory, if you record in mono you get more. I think 512 cards are kind of hard to get, I got one of the last ones at guitar center, I would try amazon.

3:58? that sounds off

http://www.roland.com/products/en/_supp ... &prd=SP606

roland site says sampling time for a 128 mb card should be 48 mins in standard mode and 96 mins in long mode.

of course roland COULD be lying ahhah

ohh forget to mention that those numbers are for mono sampling... Half that for stereo....in which u would never use cuz u only get 4 voices in stereo = a polyphonic disaster

Also: if you attempt to sample in the first 8 (I think) banks it will JUST show the stock internal memory available, but 9-32 (with a card) pads will show appropriate sample time avail. aka- when you stick a card in it becomes a new memory partition- sorta

Prett much every aspect of the 606 has been covered somewhere in this category. Try using "search" and you'll find anything you need to know & learn all the ill tricks for the 606. Check posts by "606Man" -

use the format utility and then select a padbank from above 9..you should see plenty of sampling time...also check in the menu to see the recording mode and if you want ,select the "long" to double the sampling time...the best thing is to record a sample both "standar" and "long" mode to feel any degrade of the quality...(personally i liked long mode..!)

yeah korakios is absolutely right - 3 mins of sampling time - is internal memory

switch to bank 10 or something - it will show available sampling time of 128 CF card - that's all
