really after using it for so long you develop away of storage. what i like to do is:

(if you have max memory)

keep the first 8 banks for drums/ drum storage meaning i relocate drums i sampled to those banks when im done if i like and plan on using them again

then the rest 9-32 are used for beats.

how i like to do it is if possible do one beat per bank meaning ill sample drums and my main shyt in one bank. most of the time u have sample that u wont use so delete em and fill those empty pads with somethin to rock.

by doin it this way i nvr have shyt splashed all over the place and i can keep track of drums by exporting them after relocating them back to those first banks...

hope u get this i know its sound like alot but it works...peace

Thanks for the tip. Good idea. I'm used the mpc, so its a little daunting as that box encourages throwing shit all over the place in programs.... The one thing that kills me about it though is that if I save a pattern, and then fuck with one of the pads that pattern is using then the pattern is pretty much decimated.. any thoughts?

yeah, rolands samplers "stream" sounds rather than load ram so if u have a pattern laid, any tinker w/ it itll always change.

now if u wanna reuse that sample in a different manner then use the clipboard function and move it either to a different pad or bank. u can do this by holding the clipboard button then hitting the pad u want to copy then when u have a place to put it just do the same steps to transfer it. then u can manipulate away.

When I make a pattern on the 606 I simply 'name' it with the Bank # & maybe even the pads & FX

Example:
Pattern 001
9 fx 5 & 7

so that'd mean that pattern was made from Bank 9 & I liked FX 5 & 7-
then if you make mad variations you add a little something to differentiate, such as:
a9 fx 5&7
b9 fx 5&7
c9 fx 5&6

Make sense?
