I have drum tracks recorded in Sonar 7.

I have a midi track of just the kick drum.

I run my midi out to the in of the 505 and it triggers the pad exactly the way it is supposed to.

The only problem is that it defaults to bank 1 pad 1.

How do I assign it to trigger a different bank and pad?

Any help would be great!!!

Thanks

i'm not familiar with Sonar, but i think you probably have to copy that kick drum pattern to a channel with a piano roll. once those notes are there you can drag them up and down...each piano key will correspond to a different pad of the SP, try various notes and you should find which one matches the pad your kickdrum is on

hope that helps

I don't think I'm explaining things right.

Ok, skip the Sonar part.

I have a midi file of a kick drum.

I am running it into my sp-505 and it triggers bank 1 pad 1.

How do I get it to trigger bank 2 pad 8?

Thanks

have never used sonar, but I know the 505 responds to midi program change messages. If you can change these you can trigger samples on any of the pad banks.

you need to do a program change to change banks. And the 505s actual bank will be 1 number higher than the bank your midi device is sending. For example, prg 00 will be bank 1. prg 01 will be bank 2 etc.

AWESOME!!! So this can be done after all.

Ok, now the question.... How do I do this? lol I'm new to using the 505 and it seems I have jumped into one of the more complicated situations right off the bat.

I have the manual but I'm not exactly understanding how to change the banks around. With the first 4 banks being locked I cant seem to get past that.

Thanks for all the help!!!

well, when it comes to changing the banks from an external source the info I just gave u is all u need as far as the 505 is concerned. U just gotta figure out how to do program changes from whatever your triggering it from.
