Just bought a 505 to pair with my 808, Im already expecting some weirdness with it because thats how all them roland samplers are. Are there any big tricks to know when it arrives? Workaround or whatnot. I already scoured over the forum before I bought it and I know that I should try to keep the samples mono to increase the polyphony, but are there any other tips or shortcuts that you guys know that improve your workflow with this sampler?

keep your phrase samples in gate, there’s no cut groups on this machine.

it will pitch a phrase sample to fit the bpm of your sequence so when chopping make sure your sample chops are on drum and not phrase.

that is true for the 606 too.

if your going to use the pitch banks be sure what key your sample is in and put it on the corresponding pad. if you put a sample thats in the key of C on a pad that's D# you'll get some pretty weird results.
