I have two 32 mb SM cards for my 505. One of them is almost completely filled with samples on 8 or 9 of the pad banks. The other 32 mb SM card hasn't been used. I removed the full card and inserted the empty card, then formatted the new card on the 505, but all my pad banks were exactly the same as before. I still had access to the same samples that were on the original 32mb card but still no extra save space. I have a 128 mb SM card as well that I tried out with the same result. Still all the same samples on the user pad banks as before and no extra sampling time. Am I missing something obvious? Any help is appreciated...thanks

It's because the samples are saved on the internal memory and not the SM card. You need to make sure you're recording to the Card Banks.

Thanks I just realized my mistake now then came back to this thread. Like you said I was using only the internal memory and need to use the card banks. How much space is on the 505's internal memory? I was able to keep all the stock drums and still stored a ton of loops on the internal memory alone, I just sampled in mono on the lofi setting to save space. I had assumed I was already using the space on the 32 mb SM card lol now I have 98 mins worth of sampling time

Banks 1 to 16 is internal and Banks 17 to 32 are SmartMedia. Only way to access the card is by selecting banks 17 to 32.

Internal max at lofi is 17 minutes, standard is 2 minutes. Your 32mb card can hold 98 minutes of samples at lofi, 16 minutes standard.

thank you, so that means the 128 mb SM card can store 392 mins of samples on lofi mode. i'd run out of open pads before running out of space unless i sampled in standard or long mode. a 32 mb card seems to have more than enough space. makes me think about getting a 16 mb card to cut down on the processing wait times. The 505 came with a 128 mb card when I bought it in december. I started using the 32 mb card after figuring out that having an SM card with more space meant longer load times.
